As of November 2008, New York's workers compensation insurance rating system is now a competitive market. That means, insurance carriers will now have different prices instead of fixed rates, as it has been for the past 100 years. The old system involved a fixed price and the price did not change, no matter what carrier you called. Now it pays to shop around and find the carrier with the best price and best coverage.  That’s where we come in.

Who is required by law?

New York law requires almost all employers operating in New York State to have workers' compensation insurance coverage for their employees.  Any company that is not a sole proprietorship, a partnership, and one/two person corporate officers with no employees is not required to carry workers' compensation insurance (although coverage may be obtained voluntarily).  If you do not fall under any of these descriptions, you are required to carry workman’s compensation insurance.
